How do I get started on this debt-free or even reduced debt road? We’re drowning and are starting the process of taking everything into bankruptcy. Is there another way out? We’ve tried debt settlement a couple of times but it just isn’t working out for us. We can’t get financing to get cheaper cars because we owe so much on the ones we have. Would it be wise to purchase a first-time home at ages 58 and 56 with an approximate down of $45,000?
We have always rented, but have inherited a small amount that could be put toward a home. We have an outstanding student loan of approximately $50,000, but other than that we are debt-free.
